Manny Pacquiao is the most popular boxer in the world today. Many fighters call him out from featherweights to light middleweights because they know fighting him will give them a big payday. People can say that Floyd Mayweather is the most famous but he is only famous in America, Pacquiao is famous worldwide.
Recently, Juan Manuel Marquez, someone that Manny Pacquiao faced at featherweight and superfeatherweight, called Manny out after he defeated Juan Diaz on HBO.
I have to say, that in my view, I would much rather see Juan Manuel Marquez fight Manny Pacquiao in November, rather than, giving Antonio Margarito a shot at a big payday with Manny.
Marquez looked very sharp against Juan Diaz and he would give Manny Pacquiao an amazing fight. The two have a big history together and a third match is something that could easily be sold with an HBO 24/7. The Mexican and Filipino boxing fans like Marquez and they like Pacquiao and since Marquez has also fought Floyd Mayweather Jr., they can add that to the intrigue and build up of the fight.
I fear that Bob Arum making a fight with Antonio Margarito will make the sport of boxing come under a lot of fire. A lot of Filipino fans are saying Margarito should be given a chance but I beg to differ, now that I think about it, it is not proper.
In boxing , using illegal handwraps is the ultimate “No No”, putting plaster on the wraps is almost like you are attempting to murder your opponent with concrete fists as weapons.
The Pay-per-view will truly suffer if Bob Arum makes a fight with Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao.
Look at the boxer Luis Resto, he ended the career of another Bob Arum fighter, Billy Collins Jr., by using plaster on his handwraps. Luis Resto’s trainer, Panama Lewis, applied the plaster before the fight that ended Collins boxing career. Resto claimed that he didn’t know what was put in his gloves by Lewis but later he admitted he knew that Panama Lewis was loading his gloves.

We shouldn’t approve of this type of fight because it will just make boxing look bad. That is why I prefer to see Pacquiao vs. Marquez in a third fight. Marquez deserves a shot and he is an honest man, who never cheats and proved that he really wants the fight with Pacquiao.
Also, this time around, they can truly settle the score of who really won. Marquez will not demand a 50-50 split of the money, Pacquiao can get a bigger share since he is the true star in boxing.
I don’t think we should boycott a Antonio Margarito vs. Manny Pacquiao fight but I think we should have our voices heard that we prefer a more worthy opponent for Manny Pacquiao.

I agree, Marquez deserves it more than Margarito. However, the question would be at what weight should they fight. The weight JMM came in, 132 lbs. belies that he would be a disadvantage fighting at the Junior Welterweight or Welterweight level. Going below 140 lbs, on the other hand, might be a bit unfair to the PACMAN.
What would be fair for one may not be fair for the other.

Boxing fans should be guided that Pacquiao already defeated Marquez twice, officially and unofficially. While the 2nd fight is a clear win of Manny, their first encounter is tainted with judging error resulting for Marquez salvaging a draw. One bad thing for Marquez is he can not accept defeat. He lacks will to respect judges’ decision which is final and official. Before awarding a Pacquiao sweepstake to Marquez, he should first issue a statement honestly admitting that he was beaten by the Pacman before otherwise forget about his dreams.., dream of hitting a jackpot. Cry baby Marquez should move on and try to look for more sensible fight of his level. I love to see Marquez with Pacquiao but Marquez has no power in the light-middleweight and even at welterweight division. He must try light-welterweights the likes of Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander or even Ricky Hatton then try again the welterweight division the likes of Andre Berto, Shane Mosley or Zab Judah.

Marquez is sharp only against B level fighters. It’s obvious that even during negotiation, Diaz has no chance against him. Call Sotto, Bradley or Chris John for a rematch. At the moment, Margarito is almost a sure dance partner for Pacquiao and it’s a rumble. This is a firepower. Exciting fight to the finish.

Pacquiao should fight Marquez again to silence the critics once and for all, then retire because he has nothing left to prove.
A fight with Marquez is a difficult one to negotiate in terms of weight and purse share. Pacquiao will fight preferably at welterweight and go down to light welterweight at the most. I doubt if Marquez will venture again into the welterweight division having experienced tremendous disadvantage when he fought Floyd. Manny will not be willing to sacrifice too much by scaling down to light welterweight just to give in to the demand of Marquez. If the price is right he might acquiesce but GBP will surely price him out by asking a sizable share probably more than the share he got from Floyd. This being the case this fight will never be made considering that Manny has got a lot of options at welter and jr. middleweight. Anyway 4 knockdowns are enough to convince unbiased boxing fans albeit the character of the two fights which are considered “could go either way”. Despite this, I like a third fight just so Manny and Freddie could silence the doubters and it could be used as a yardstick of Manny’s improvement since he moved north from featherweight.
pac vs JMM – definitely , in principle Margarito should wait more because of what he did, not this year, that is too fast. We can forgive but time is needed

It may sound interesting to others, but in my opinion, what has Manny got to prove by going down in weight just to fight Marquez? Here, he is doing the impossible by putting more weight in his flyweight/bantamweight body just to prove to the world that he can lick the heaviers fighters, like Diaz, Hatton, de la Hoya, Cotto and Clottey. Those who insist of Pacquiao fighting JMM again maybe are not convinced that the two previous fights were not true winnings. Manny has been chopping down big trees and now some wants him to go back and chop a smaller one? Can one imagine that if Manny knocked down JMM 3 times in their first encounter, at 125, what will happen if the fight is at 147 or 150? I really don’t care whether Manny fights Margarito or Marquez, because I love these Mexican boxing warriors. It is just exciting to watch these Mexicans fight toe-to-toe, as does Pacquiao. These are real gladiators fighting at its best. Except perhaps for some shameful duckers out there. I get really bored with boxing technicians (e.g. Floyd) coz when they fight, they run and hide. Boxing isn’t a run and hide sport, it is a gladiator sport. There’s nothing more exciting than a slugfest. That’s why MMA has become an exciting sport, and many people are realizing that now.

Marquez beat diaz…it was expected. Marquez-Pacquiao is equally exciting as Margarito-Pacquiao. It’s Pacman….you can’t argue with that. But I think, for marquez to get a fight with Pacman, he has to get at least one good welterweight guy and beat him up. He(JMM) is at lightweight and pacman is negotiating for middleweight fight, that’s two weight division difference. It would look like paul wiliams fighting at welterweight division…not a good sight to see.

Marquez won via an unexciting unanimous decision against Diaz .That kind of fight will only satisfy Marquez pocket but not the fans and casuals in general.MGM is almost empty in the beginning ,just filled up to more than eight thousand people that watch the fight, i have read in one boxing article .If we compare the situations between Margarito and Marquez,being the promoter like Bob Arum,definitely he would rather take the latter.The attraction is much better and Margarito has not yet an opponent to Pacquiao,not once.Besides ,Marquez insulted not only Pacquiao ,but the Filipinos and our country. I don’t believe Marquez deserves to fight Pacquiao ( at 147) as of this time …Marquez should past ” Cotto , Clottey or Amir Khan first ” before he can get the ticket to fight Pacquiao . A lot of people think Margarito does not deserve a shot at Pacman, and I don’t blame them. But for me, if Margarito gets a shot, albeit an undeserved one, then he gets a shot. Some guys are just lucky, I guess. What is important for me, if this fight does get made, is if it’s going to be a good fight and I believe it will be, better than Pacquiao vs. Marquez, and more of a challenge to Pacquiao. Margarito is a big welterweight; not a pushover at all; he’s tall, like Dela Hoya, but unlike him , he can pull the trigger; he has a tough chin and a come forward style. He’s a dangerous fighter, whom Floyd also avoided, right? Pacquiao may be favored a bit, but he’s in for a really tough night. Pacman can even lose. And Margarito is no Clottey. He will engage. This fight is going to be an exciting, action-filled one because it is going to be a competitive one, more competitive than a Marquez fight. Finally, to place things in perspective, how many out there think that Marquez can dance with Margarito and defeat him? Not many, I guess, and that’s the reason why Pacquiao is really a truly special fighter, a phenom, while Marquez is merely a great one.

It is unfair to say that because a fighter got Knocked down (not Knocked out) he lost the fight. Marquez did go down four times, but any true boxing fan knows that a boxing match is a 12 round contest. He did go down in the first match 3 times but came back and in my unbiased opinion won that fight. The second fight he went down once and came back enough so that he lost by a split decision, which i belive was an actual draw. Since then Pacquiao has improved further and I believe this time he could beat Marques legitimately. I Dont think Marquez is whining about the fight, He truly believes he didnt loose either fight nor do I. But people who dont know about boxing will say he went down and thats why he lost. By the wya shane mosley is no longer a legitimate welter, he has been passed his prime for a while, he looked incredibly fast against margarito but against mayweather he could hardly swing. Pac-man would knock out mosley. Clotty is not a great fighter either and definately not Hatton who is the fighters pacquiao beat these are not tests for anybody. Cotto is decent but not great. Berto has potential to be great but was a bit rusty in his last fight. Please dont give to much credit to pacquiao either, he is an amazing boxer but the only one he truly needs to beat is mayweather and that fight wont happen cuz mayweather is afraid. I think that a marquez and pacquiao fight would be more interesting than margarito. Pacquioa would beat the fuck out of margarito. But i doubt that he would do the same to marquez.
